"Laughing Bodies Yoga Retreat"

with Rebecca Dennis, e-ryt 500

Amy

Each year we come together to enjoy a respite from the pressures of the modern world. The natural beauty of Gray Bear coupled with the yoga practice will enable us to rest and rejuvenate.

We will explore a variety of yoga practices including postures, vinyasa, pranayama and meditation. There will also be time to explore the natural beauty of Gray Bear Retreat Center which includes the wood burning sauna, hot tub, cold spring dips, hikes, and lounging in the hammock!

Retreat includes:

  • Four Yoga sessions
  • Two Meditation sessions
  • Double occupancy in the lodge (upgrades to private cabins are available)
  • Vegetarian meals prepared with organic food
  • Full use of Gray Bear facilities

In a 36-year Hatha yoga practice and a 21 year meditation practice Rebecca Dennis has developed the unique Laughing Bodies method based on extensive studies of Ashtanga, Iyengar Jivamukti, Integral and Bhakti yoga. Her joyful, non-dogmatic approach is a result of over 20 years of teaching in New York City, Tennessee, and California. Starting in New York City, her teaching experience spans yoga studios, health clubs, and Beth Israel Medical Center. She also designed programs for corporate stress reduction which included the New York Times and Gillette Corporation. She moved to Tennessee in 2001, where she founded Laughing Bodies Yoga and Pilates. She was voted favorite yoga instructor in this area for 10 years in a row.. She has offered trainings for established teachers and led 20 retreats in the US and Central America. In 2011 she brought her practice to the San Diego area. She has added courses designed specifically for actors and is on faculty for the Summer Conservatory Program at the La Jolla Playhouse. Rebecca's practice is informed by a parallel career in the performing arts. She resides in Escondido, CA with her 13 year old son. Rebecca’s passion is to help people experience the miracle of being in human form and fall in love with their very own Laughing Body!

Gray Bear is home to 400 acres of rolling hills, thick forest, natural springs, and even a waterfall. You can experience the wonders of nature while sitting in a hand-built wood fire sauna; hear the silence of nature's symphony lying on a hammock while curled under a blanket; and revel in clear air and water while using shower outdoors.

With all of this nature we have some suggestions to consider when packing:

  • Working flashlight ...it gets dark with only the light of the stars to guide you!
  • A bathing suit ... good for the hot tub, sauna, and Watsu massage pool
  • Water bottle ...Gray Bear does not use disposable cups. Purified water is available in the Main House and the Yoga Room
  • A bath robe/sarong
  • House slippers or socks to wear indoors ...no shoes inside please
  • Comfortable walking shoes/sandals for an inspired nature hike
  • Warm clothing ...mornings & evenings can be cool
  • Comfortable clothes for exercising/yoga

Please do not bring any drugs, alcohol, or pets. Gray Bear is a non-smoking, pet-free and alcohol-free facility.
