"The Heart of Devotion"

Amy Barnes

Welcome -join us for our annual Bhakti Yoga Retreat on the healing ground of Gray Bear Lodge this fall! We will have the opportunity to dive deep and surrender into the vast ocean of Devotion, to experience the full spectrum of flavor, feeling, sound, aroma, color, & movement of LIFE. Our weekend will include a gentle, unplugged form of the art and practice of Kirtan (chanting ancient mantras). Healing breath, asana practice, spontaneous movement/play, meditation, sound healing & deep relaxation will be a part of our journey. We will have fun and drop into a quiet place; a place of connection. This holistic approach to yoga, to living, is a joyful & practical way to help us return over & over again to this holy place inside, the heart of Being…LOVE

Fall is the perfect to season to relax & let go, to shed what is no longer serving us, and call forth fresh creative energy. The sacred ground of Gray Bear is one of the most potent and safe places to do just that. It embraces each and everyone, allowing healing, restoration, & rejuvenation in mind, body, & soul.

There will be more time this year to simply relax, get a massage or watsu treatment, lie in the hammock with a book, take a hike, or take a nap.

Gray Bear calls us to connect and harmonize in the natural elements; offering a wood fired sauna & spring fed cold plunge (soul shine!), natural stone hot tub, watsu pool, revitalizing water falls, and world class vegetarian cuisine.

Testimonials

"Amy Barnes' yoga class has changed the way I am in my body. I leave her class a little larger each week. I feel like Amy is part healer, part minister, and fully yoga teacher. I would drive from two counties away to experience her healing touch during savasana." - Minton Sparks

“A bhakti yoga weekend retreat with Amy Barnes more than amazed me. It fulfilled my deepest desire to find a teacher on the yoga path that lights up my soul fire. Her "Bhakti soup" cooks up so artfully the blend of yogas - the fluid, flowing hatha, pranayama breathing, repetition of mantras to music, and the Bhakti, the yoga of love and devotion expressed through her presence, voice and healing touch. The feeling that Amy exudes is imbued with her special musical talent and the vibrations of all of her teachers, and the delightful essence of Shakti. If passion for the Divine is your calling, she might just be the one with whom to fly to the Higher Planes of existence.” - Kathleen Rosemary

Gray Bear is home to 400 acres of rolling hills, thick forest, natural springs, and even a waterfall. You can experience the wonders of nature while sitting in a hand-built wood fire sauna; hear the silence of nature's symphony lying on a hammock while curled under a blanket; and revel in clear air and water while using shower outdoors.

With all of this nature we have some suggestions to consider when packing:

  • Working flashlight ...it gets dark with only the light of the stars to guide you!
  • A bathing suit ... good for the hot tub, sauna, and Watsu massage pool
  • Water bottle ...Gray Bear does not use disposable cups. Purified water is available in the Main House and the Yoga Room
  • A bath robe/sarong
  • House slippers or socks to wear indoors ...no shoes inside please
  • Comfortable walking shoes/sandals for an inspired nature hike
  • Warm clothing ...mornings & evenings can be cool
  • Comfortable clothes for exercising/yoga

Please do not bring any drugs, alcohol, or pets. Gray Bear is a non-smoking, pet-free and alcohol-free facility.
